[UAE] Six Emirates Tour In One Day
United Arab Emirates (UAE) is an elective monarchy formed from a federation of seven Emirates, consisting Abu Dhabi (the capital), Ajman, Dubai, Fujairah, Ras Al Khaimah, Sharjah and Umm Al Quwain. Many tour agencies offer Six Emirates Tour in one day, either departing from Dubai or Sharjah. The six Emirates in this tour exclude Abu Dhabi. The tour duration was about twelve hours. It is a quick and convenient way to see the highlights of the six Emirates.
Map of UAE
From the map above, you can see the location of each Emirate.
Sharjah
My tour guide picked me up in Sharjah. Click here for further reading on Sharjah.
Ajman
Ajman is the next Emirate I was passing through in this tour after Sharjah. Ajman is the smallest of the seven Emirates which is located at North East of Sharjah.
Etisalat Tower is one of the iconic building in Ajman.
Passing by Ajman Fish Market.
Fujairah
Fujairah is the youngest Emirate, only becoming independent from Sharjah in 1952. It is the only Emirate which do not have a coastline along Persian Gulf.
Grand Sheikh Zayed Mosque Fujairah
Grand Sheikh Zayed Mosque Fujairah is the main mosque in the Emirate of Fujairah. It is the second largest mosque in the United Arab Emirates after Abu Dhabi's Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque. It has 65 domes and 6 minarets in a white marble structure. The mosque can hold around 28,000 worshippers. Entry is free.
Opening hours: 9am - 10pm (Sun - Thu), 3pm - 10pm (Fri), closed on Thursday
Fujairah Museum
Fujairah Museum is a museum which provides visitors an insight into local history and heritage. Antique weapons and ancient artifacts are displayed in the museum. The visit took me about 30 minutes.
Admission fee: AED 5 (adult)
Opening hours: 8.30am - 1.30pm & 4.30pm - 6.30pm (Sat - Thu), 2.30pm - 6.30pm (Fri)
Fujairah Fort
Passed by Fujairah Fort. Built in the 16th century, it is among the oldest as well as the largest castle in the country.
Khorfakkan Beach (Sharjah)
Stopping by Khorfakkan Beach in Sharjah. This 3 km crescent-shaped beach is one of the most popular tourist places in Sharjah. It is facing the Gulf of Oman.
Al Bidya Mosque
Al Bidya Mosque is one of the oldest mosques in the country and was named after the town that once surrounded it. The mosque is square but irregular in shape and has four pointed domes that are not equal in size. The mosque still hosts daily prayer congregations today.
Women must be appropriately dressed in full black dress with long sleeves and head covered by black scarf.
Entry to the mosque is free but I didn't enter the mosque, My husband did. Opening hours: 8am - 6.30pm (Sat - Fri)
I had lunch in a local restaurant after visiting the main attractions in Fujairah.
Ras Al Khaimah
Driving towards Ras Al Khaimah.
Al Qassimi Palace
Built in 1985, Al Qassimi Palace was abandoned decades ago amid fears of paranormal activity. The palace reportedly cost AED 500 million to build and it took 15 years to complete. The owners abandoned the palace after staying here for one night. In December 2019, it was announced that the palace would be open to the public for a limited time, before closing it for renovation. It was still closed when I passed by it back in October 2019.
Sheikh Zayed Mosque
Sheikh Zayed Mosque is one of the most recognizable buildings in Ras Al Khaimah. It is big enough to accommodate 1,000 worshippers.
Umm Al Quwain
This abandoned Russian cargo plane was left rusting at the old Umm Al Quwain airfield since 1999. It has adverts for Palma Beach Hotel on its sides. The reason why it finally ended up abandoned in Umm Al Quwain is still shrouded in mystery. It is so popular and peculiar that it is deemed the unofficial landmark of Umm Al Quwain. * The latest news on 30 May 2022 is that the plane is being dismantled to make way for a new megaproject in the city.
Dubai
My final stop is in Dubai. The tour guide dropped me off at my hotel. Hello, Dubai!
Out of the six Emirates, Sharjah and Fujairah were the only two Emirates that I managed to do some sightseeing. I was just passing through the remaining Emirates. Since I was staying in Dubai for three nights, there was enough time for me to explore Dubai and Abu Dhabi.
The Six Emirates tour cost me AED 551 for a private coach back in 2019. I couldn't remember which tour agency that I booked from. Not to worry. There's plenty of tour agencies offering the same tour online.
