Unlike other exhibition I have seen, the exhibition is projected on all surface of the Atelier, accompanied with music. The exhibition retraces the intense life of the artist who painted more than 2,000 pictures during the last ten years of his life.
It started with Van Gogh's early works which painted peasants and cottages.
His first major work is the The Potato Eaters (1885).
Then it moved on with his well known latter works like the Sunflower (1888) and Irises (1889).
Almond Blossom.
The moving pictures certainly made his paintings sprang to life. The bold and expressive brushstrokes of the artist is further enhanced under the large projection.
Even my son was captivated by the light and sound surrounding him. At times, he was watching while sitting on the floor, watching the show in awe. Other times, he was chasing the light gleefully.
The Bedroom (1889).
Van Gogh also painted many landscape.
The Starry night (1889) is one of my favourite painting of his.
The light and sound show of Van Gogh's paintings lasted for 35 minutes. My son certainly enjoyed the show as much as I did.
It was a rewarding and incredible experience to be able to immerse in Van Gogh's painting. Highly recommended to pay a visit while in Paris.
The Atelier's current exhibition (28 February 2020 to 3 January 2021) will highlight the link between artistic creativity and the Mediterranean shores and immerse visitors in the masterpieces of twenty artists, including Renoir, Monet, Pissarro, Matisse, Signac, Derain, Vlaminck, Dufy, and Chagall, amongst others.
