Takamori is a small town in Aso district, Kumamoto Prefecture. You can opt to drop by here before you visit the famous Mount Aso.

Board a ferry from Shimabara Port, Nagasaki to Kumamoto Port.

The sea gulls kept flying by the ferry, hoping to get more food.

You can get some light refreshment at the snack shop in the ferry.

Takamori Yousui Tunnel Park.


The National Railway was constructing a railway here and they found a water resource under the ground while digging a tunnel. So they made it into a park.




The entrance of the tunnel. “Yousui” means clean spring water.







Special water feature in the tunnel where the water drops like a string of pearl.






This is where the tunnel ends.


Takamori Tanabata Festival is held inside this tunnel every year. Colourful lanterns are displayed inside the tunnel.















The spring water is so clear that it reflects everything like a mirror.
