SLOVENIA - Bohinj
Bohinj is a basin within the Julian Alps, measuring 20km long and 5km wide. Lake Bohinj within Bohinj Valley is the largest permanent lake in Slovenia.
Heading towards Bohinj.
Bohinj is actually part of the Triglav National Park and it really is a joy to have such a scenic drive across the national park.
Driving is of course the favourite option to travel around Bohinj, but there are actually many cyclist travelling along the road.
Some travelled by roller skates.
Well you can always walk. But under this hot weather, its a no no for me.
People swimming in the river.
The bridge and the Church of St. John.
Crossing the bridge.
Lake Bohinj.
Another church along the way.
But before exploring Bohinj, we decided to grab lunch first.
Had lunch here at the Gostisce Erlah.
Menu of the restaurant.
We had a hearty lunch. The fish was really fresh and tasted good. The trout is definitely recommended.
A bee somehow flew into my tea. I got it out though.
Mount Vogel is one of the premier ski resorts in winter. What better way to see the amazing view over the Alps and Lake Bohinj than to take a cable car to the summit of Mount Vogel?
Welcome to Vogel.
The price list of cable car and operation hours.
Vogel, like a fairy tale located in the heart of the Triglav National Park.
Vogel Mountain measures 1,922m high and the cable car brings you up to the height of 1,537m.
Up we go!
The view of Lake Bohinj and its surrounding mountains.
The steel platform hovers over the valley and you can actually see through it.
The view was definitely worth it.
The restaurant inside offers a beautiful view too.
You can also opt to sit outdoor to enjoy a beer or two.
The ski slopes of Mount Vogel.
Although it was summer, I could still see that the ski slopes were well kept and maintained.
The accommodation at Mount Vogel.
The panoramic promontory of Rjava Skala at 1540m high.
Rjava skala is the balcony of Bohinj. The view here is breath-taking.
My beau standing at the edge beside the fall danger sign to take some pictures.
Triglav (2,864m) is the highest peak of Julian Alps as seen in this photo.
Panoramic view of the surroundings.
Here’s another cafe, Panorama cafe, that enjoys beautiful views over the valley.
The view of Bohinj Lake.
Just besides Panorama cafe, there’s a pool table.
In order to ski, you’ll have to take ski lift to the top of the mountain. The lift service is closed during summer.
The ski lift brings you higher up the mountain. Even though the ski lift is closed, you can always hike up the mountain.
Another cafe besides the ski lift.
A small Alphine Garden.
There are a few accommodation to choose from.
Other than the beautiful view and cool weather, there is nothing much to do here at Vogel during the summer.
Well, my stay here at Vogel was just a short one. Just to enjoy the scenery and of course to take some pictures.
Well, its call Vogel Ski Resort, so winter is the season to be here.
The cable car operates every 30 minutes. Queuing up for the next cable car to go down from Mount Vogel.
Ski you soon. Right, maybe next time.
Someone brought a dog into the cable car and my son was really curious about it.
Aw, ain’t it cute?
Heading back down.
Enjoying the view one last time while taking the cable car ride.
Looks like a small beach area by Lake Bohinj.
A wooden bridge over the river.
The river water is crystal clear and I could easily see the bottom of the shallow river bed.
Such a scenic view at Bohinj Lake.
The clear waters of the lake.
Walking towards the lake shore.
Many people enjoying there time at the shoreline of the lake.
Looks like swimming in the lake is a favourite pass time during summer.
The picturesque Lake Bohinj.
And this was the beach I saw during the cable ride at Mount Vogel.
My beau dipping his legs in the lake.
Priceless moment with my son by the lake.
After spending some leisure time at the lake, it was time to head back.
People packing up to leave the lake before it gets dark.
The bronze statue of a deer at Bohinj lake.
There are plenty of accommodation available at Bohinj.
Next, I headed towards Vintgar Gorge which is 4km northwest of Bled.
