SLOVENIA - Vintgar Gorge
The 1.6km long Vintgar Gorge carved by the Radovna River is one of the most popular natural features of Slovenia.
Soteska Vintgar meaning Vintgar Gorge. Because of its close proximity to Bled, the gorge is also known as Blejski Vintgar, Bled Gorge.
Vintgar, straight on.
It was about 7pm when I arrived at the Gorge. Even the ticket counter was closed. However, the entrance to the gorge is always open. Meaning to say that I saved on the entrance ticket. Yay!
Vintgar is part of Triglav National Park.

The river flowing down the gorge.
The gorge was equipped with wooden observatory walkways and bridges and was opened to public in 1893, making it the first mountain gorge in the area to be accessible to tourists.
Until 1890, the gorge was mainly inaccessible, except for two points at which Radovna could be reached and a bridge over Sum Falls.
The gorge was carved by the Radovna River and is a continuation of Radovna Valley. The canyon is 50 to 100m high, with a total slope measuring 250m.
It was a leisure walk on the wooden walkways.

The famous gorge was finally in sight.
Slovenia’s Grand Canyon.
Can you spot me in the picture?
The narrow walkway.
The 1.6km long gorge terminates at the Sum Falls, the largest river waterfall in Slovenia. Unfortunately, we were unable to finish the entire walk due to limited daylight time.
To end my outing with a trip here was just perfect.
Located just 5km away from Lake Bled, the Vintgar Gorge is most definitely not to be missed while visiting Bled.
We had to head back using the same pathway before it got dark.
Wish we could stay here longer to explore the beauty of the gorge.
That night, we headed to Ljubljana city to stay for the night.
