[IRAN] Tehran - Milad Tower and Mount Tochal
Completed in the year 2008, Milad Tower is currently the 6th tallest tower in the world.
After visiting Azadi Tower, I headed to another famous tower in Tehran, Milad Tower.
Welcome!
Unlike Azadi Tower, Tehran Metro does not stop at Milad Tower. Taking a taxi is your best bet.
Standing at 435m high, it is 14m higher than KL Tower.
A 6D cinema at the Milad Complex.
A booth selling miniature of the tower.
The entrance fees to visit the individual sections of Milad Tower.
That’s the lift up to the observation deck of Milad Tower. Nope, I didn’t go up.
We just hang around the complex for a while.
The view of the Alborz Mountain range from Milad Tower was just amazing.
The best view of Milad Tower is still from Azadi Tower.
Milad Tower was just a stopover as the main destination was Mount Tochal which is a mountain in the Alborz range.
Well, Mount Tochal is actually a popular recreational area for the resident’s of Tehran especially during winter as it is a ski resort.
The gondola lift which brings you up to numerous stations.
View of Tehran from the Mount Tochal.
You can basically see the whole of Tehran from Tochal.
Locals hanging out at Tochal.
A 5D simulator.
Relaxed and enjoyed some recreational time here at the Tochal Complex.
Bought a cup of frozen yogurt.
Yummy!
Ate the yogurt while enjoying the view of Tehran.
Down with USA! Well, this is one of the entrance of the former USA embassy which was seized by Iran in 1979.
The friendly taxi driver who brought us around Tehran in a day. The hotel arranged for this driver and I paid him directly at 50 USD for the whole day. There are actually many taxi driver where you can book for the whole day. They can only speak a limited English and you have to print out the picture of the places you want to go and show it to the driver. They wouldn’t understand the English name of the places you want to go. So unless you speak Farsi, print out the picture.
Had dinner at a restaurant near the Tehran Grand Bazaar.
The best kebab I had in years and it was cheap!
The Imam Khomeini Square.
After a long day, its time to call it a day. Stayed here at the Ferdowsi International Grand for two nights.
