[IRAN] Shiraz – Ali Ibn Hamze Holy Shrine
Ali Ibn Hamze Holy Shrine is the tomb of the nephew of Imam Reza (the eighth Shiite Imam and descendant of prophet Mohammad). The first mausoleum was built in the 10th century and was renovated many times since. The existing shrine was built in the 19th century after earthquakes destroyed previous incarnations.
The mausoleum has a blue dome and two minarets.
To enter the shrine, women needs to wear a chador like the one I’m wearing in the picture. The chador is provided at no cost at the entrance.
Men and women enters the mosque through separate entrance into separated hall. This is the women’s entrance.
A stained glass door.
What brings visitors to this shrine is to marvel at the mirror work.
Glittering shards of glass and mirror.
Even though the women’s hall is separated from the men, the tomb is located between the halls.

My beau took the following pictures of the men’s hall.

The interior glassy wonder is worth a visit.
Time to leave.
Arriving at Qavam Restaurant for lunch.
The restaurant doesn’t have many seats and it’s packed with diners.
A giant teddy bear on a motorcycle? Now that’s not a scene you see everyday. I wonder what was written on the board hanging on the teddy bear’s neck.
Local store selling colourful women’s headscarf and black abaya.
That’s all for this post.
