[IRAN] Kashan - Tabatabaei House

Tabatabaei House is a historic house in Kashan, built in early 1880s for the Tabatabaiha family. It consist of four courtyards and includes classical features of traditional Persian residential architecture, such as biruni and andaruni.

Our last stop in Kashan is the Tabatabaei House.

The house is almost 5,000 square meters. It has 40 rooms, 4 courtyards, 4 basements and 3 windwards.

The windows are stained glass. It looks pretty when the sunlight filters through the coloured glass.

The house belonged to a trader man in carpet field. Rugs and carpets is the most important trade of Kashan. Many rich men are in carpet and textile fields in the city.

We stayed overnight at Negarestan Hotel in Kashan. The hotel is near to Fin Garden but a little way out from the city.

After checking in to the hotel, we explored the surrounding streets on foot.

There are plenty of shops and restaurants lining the main street.

A shop selling rose water. Rose water is a flavoured water made by steeping rose petals in water. It seems like a popular drink in Iran.

We had a chance to try out the street food. This soup noodle is served hot.

There are a few attractions in Kashan such as the Boroujerdi House which we didn’t manage to see..
