[ESTONIA] Parnu
On my way to Tallinn, I dropped by in Parnu, a resort seaside city. Parnu is a popular summer holiday resort for the people of Estonia.
From Latvia I crossed over to the border of Estonia.
Welcome to Parnu.
The Parnu River flows through the city.
Parnu is famous for its wooden buildings.
A beautiful wooden villa.
The Estonian Apostolic Orthodox Parnu Transformation of Our Lord Church built in 1904.
St Elizabeth Church in central Parnu which was inaugurated in 1750.
Since Parnu is a popular summer holiday destination, there are plenty of restaurants and hotels.
Since it’s on the way to the capital city of Estonia, I stopped by here at Parnu to stretch my legs and walk along the beach while looking out to the Baltic Sea.
Say cheese!
The Parnu coastal meadow nature reserve.
Let’s head to the beach!
The Ladies Beach. The Ladies Beach is a section of beach where historically naked sunbathing by ladies has become a widely acknowledged practice. So no pictures please!
I snapped a few photos of the beach where the ladies are fully clothed.
The large white sandy beach of Parnu.
Map of Parnu’s Beach and its surroundings.
Plenty of park area in Parnu.
Raymond Valgre statue.
Raimond was a legendary musician who played in Parnu in the 1930s.
The memorial statue is located near a famous pub, Kuursaal.
Managed to snap a picture of Tallinn Gate on the way out of Parnu. Tallinn Gate used to mark the beginning of the postal road from Parnu to Tallinn. This 17th century gate is one of the last relics of the old town.
After exploring Parnu for a little bit, I continued on my journey to Talinn.
