[JAPAN] Osaka - Harukas 300 Observatory Deck

DSC06813
Abeno Harukas which opens in 2014 is a new landmark in Osaka. The 60 floor building houses the largest department store in Japan, an art museum, a hotel and the highest observation deck in Osaka. The observation deck is called "Harukas 300" and occupies the building's top three floors (floors 58 to 60). It is the best place to get 360 degree views of Osaka.

The observation deck is accessed by elevators from the 16th floor. 16th floor is also where the ticket counter is. Admission fee for same day ticket is 1,500 yen per adult. If you have Osaka Amazing Pass, you can get a discount of 150 yen using its coupon.

Don’t forget to look up after you enter the elevator. It’s as if you’ve taken off from a runway on a flight into the starry night sky. Sorry the photo didn’t turn out good. It’s better to take a video.

Standing at 300m, Abeno Harukas is the third tallest building in Japan but it’s still the tallest in Osaka. The tallest building in Japan is Tokyo Skytree.

59th floor is the portion where the observatory is fully clad in glass wall.

This is the north side. You can see Tsutenkaku Tower on the left, Tennoji Zoo, Osaka Castle, etc. On a good day, you can even see Kyoto Tower at the far right.

My sister and I took the opportunity to take photo at Abenobea photo-mount. They have a photographer ready to take your photograph. The photographer will also take photograph with your own camera. The price per photo is 1,200 yen.

The weather was sunny that day and the view was amazing. It's actually best to visit near sunset time because you'll get to see the sunset view and night view. I've already planned to see night view at Umeda Sky Building, so I came to Harukas 300 during daytime.

Don’t forget to visit the restroom while you are there because...

Even the restroom has full length glass window.

The mirror above the washbasin is also a good spot for selfie.

The large, wooden deck space on the 58th floor is completely open to the sky above.

Harukas 300 is a “Lover’s Sanctuary” which is popular among couples. It is also a perfect spot for marriage proposal. Of course, we didn’t miss the opportunity to take photo at Harukas Heart photo spot. There’s actually a stand in front of the photo spot for you to put your cellphone or camera.

Harukas 300 shop is located at 59th floor.

Heart shape padlock is also sold to lovers who want to pledge their love at Harukas 300.

A normal same day ticket doesn’t allow you to re-enter once you leave the observation deck. However, a 1 day ticket (1,950 yen) allow unlimited re-entries on the same day for a single person.

Abeno Harukas Art Museum is located on the 16th floor next to the elevators that lead to the observation deck. That was the exhibition during my visit.

There’s another open air observatory platform which is free located at 16th floor.

Although it’s not as high as Harukas 300, the ambient was also quite nice with a small outdoor garden.

We enjoyed a brunch at HARBS in the Kintetsu department store before heading to the next destination. The cakes are highly recommended.
