[MALAYSIA] Kota Kinabalu - The Magellan Sutera Resort
I had the pleasure of staying at The Magellan Sutera Resorts for two nights in Kota Kinabalu during my business trip recently. This 5-star luxurious resort itself is located within the compound of Sutera Harbour Golf and Country Club. I must say it was a really satisfying and comfortable stay.
Although the location of the resort is away from Kota Kinabalu city centre, it was near to the Kota Kinabalu International Airport (only 10-minutes drive away). Getting around is easy as you can get a Gab taxi at the hotel lobby.
Initially I booked another hotel nearby which is Pacific Sutera Hotel. But the hotel upgraded my room to The Magellan Sutera Resorts for free. If you travelling for business, you might get a room for price as low as RM200 per night. Photo above is the hotel lobby.
The Deluxe Room was spacious enough with a king size bed for a single traveler like myself.
The bathroom even has a jacuzzi bathtub. The shower area is separated by shower screen.
My room comes with a nice balcony overlooking views of the swimming pool and the sea.
Buffet breakfast is included in the room price. The restaurant offering buffet breakfast is right besides the swimming pool and beach.
The swimming pool really looked inviting. It was a pity that I didn't have time to dive in and have a good swim due to tight schedule.
You can rent a bicycle here besides the swimming pool.
I love this outdoor seat area besides Ferdinand's Italian restaurant with colourful bottles lining around the bar, overlooking the blue sea. It looks equally stunning at night.
These outdoor seats and tables also look lovely.
There is a small sandy beach in the resort if you want to dip in the sea. The water is crystal clear.
You can walk over the nearby Sutera Harbour Marina Jetty for a change of view. You can also book a cruise with the hotel.
Above the Marina jetty, there is a swimming pool overlooking the Marina jetty and a swimming pool with a slide which is suitable for children.
This is a big lap swimming pool next door for swimming enthusiast, Guests from The Magellan Sutera Resorts can also enjoy these pools.
Night view over the swimming pool from my balcony.
The dining options in the resort is quite limited. You can either go to Tarik's Lounge (10am to 7pm) for a coffee or tea break, Ferdinand's (6pm to 11pm) for Italian cuisine, Spice Islands (10am to 8pm) for Malay and Indian cuisine, Horizons Sky Bar (4.30pm to 10.30pm for Mon - Fri, 4.30pm to 12am for Fri - Sun) for stunning rooftop view over the South China sea or Breeze Beach Club (11.30am - 11pm). Photo above is pasta from Ferdinand's. The pizza tasted better than the pasta though.
* Please note that Grab Food or any other food delivery is not allowed inside the resort.
If you want to dine out, I would suggest to take a Grab taxi as the nearest restaurants outside the resort is about 15 minutes walking distance. The nearest shopping mall is IMAGO Shopping Mall. Overall, I like the experience of staying at the Magellan Sutera Resort. If you're looking for a resort to relax and unwind in Kota Kinabalu, this is a good choice for you.
