JAPAN - Beppu
Beppu is one of Japan’s most famous hot spings area, producing more hot spring than any other area in the country. It is situated between the sea and the mountains. The eight hells of Beppu is a tourist attraction, with six of these located in Kannawa district and remaining two in the more remote Shibaseki district.
After visiting Mt. Aso, we stayed overnight at an onsen hotel, Daiwa Royal Hotel. We all wore the yukata provided by the hotel during the dinner.
Giant Hello Kitty dolls at the hotel.

Beautiful sunrise sea view.
The hotel’s swimming pool has a fountain at the centre.

This is the scenery that greeted us while we were having our breakfast.
Before we visit the eight hells, we saw these giant lotus leaf that looks like giant bottle caps floating on the surface of a pool. It was said to be strong enough to hold a toddler's weight.
The kanji literally means “big ghost lotus”.
This is the “blood pond hell”. Its boiling water looks coppery because of the high iron content in the water.
This is the most beautiful “hell” named Umi Jigoku which means “sea hell”.
Actually there is a total of six hells in the area. But I honestly can’t remember which is which for the remaining four.
Next, we headed to Hiroshima.
