THAILAND - Phuket, Kata
Kata Beach is situated directly south of Karon. It is more family oriented and more peaceful than Patong. Its clear water and white sand attracts many tourist.
This is the Malisa Villa Suites sign at the side of Kata Road. It is our second hotel in Phuket.
The road leading towards the entrance of the hotel.
Wanted to have a private pool villa but not in Patong. Searched through the internet and Malisa in Kata came highly recommended.
Booked the Malisa Villa Suites for two nights.
This is the hotel lobby. The hotel upgraded our Pool Villa to Grand Pool Villa with bigger room and bigger swimming pool for free, yay!
The small roundabout in the hotel compound.
Nice landscapes. The Villas are located at both sides.
Do not disturb door sign at our suite.
And this is the view that greeted us once we went in to our suite. Wow, what a view.
Our suite has a kitchen complete with stove and oven.
The villa has a outdoor private swimming pool complete with sun lounges. Don’t worry, when you’re in the pool, the wall will block prying eyes from the nearby buildings.
Dining table and living area by the pool.
At around 7,000 baht per night it sure was not cheap. But with the free upgrade to Grand Pool Vila which is 10,000 baht per night. It sure made my day. Kudos to Malisa’s management.
Spacious bedroom where you can surf the net at ease with a big LCD screen that also function as TV.
A Jacuzzi? Wow, now I’m completely swooned.
Outdoor shower? Hmm, no thanks. Luckily there is also an indoor shower.
Nap Patong impressed me but Malisa Villa Suite was so much better. Well, of course the price was also 3 to 4 times more expensive.
A row of restaurants once we step outside the hotel.
Curfew Promotion with reference to the curfew implemented by the military. When I was there, the curfew was already lifted.
More shops, restaurants and bars at Kata Road.
Once you see the Kata Beach Resort & Spa sign, turn into the junction and follow the road, you will eventually reach the Kata Beach.
Arrived at the Kata Beach. Just 5 minutes walk from Malisa Villa Suites.
Warning sign of rip currents by the beach.
The beautiful beach and sea. Can’t say its better than Boracay though.
See those red flags? Those are warning flags that warn people not to swim in the sea.
The 1.5km long Kata Beach is fringed by Pandanus and tropical almond trees.
The waves at Kata Beach are suitable for surf boarding. The south-west monsoon season makes rougher swimming conditions, but it is the time of year where the surfers flock to enjoy the waves.
But it doesn’t seem to deter the people from enjoying the sea.
An islet named Koh Pu lying just 1km from the shore.
A vendor selling crepes and coconut water by the beach.
Afraid you might get lost? Don’t worry. There are street maps to guide you.
There is even a Map of Phuket.
Many people rent either a car or motorcycle to tour around Phuket island.
The streets in Kata is not as busy as in Patong.
Kata Road.
Stalls located at the street side.
Phuket Kata Resort.
After a tiring day of diving at the open sea, it’s time to relax.
Nanta Restaurant, a fine dining restaurant of the hotel.
We ordered some complimentary snacks and drinks at the restaurant while enjoying the view outside.
The complimentary snacks and drinks were rather impressive. Sandwiches and fried fish with salads. Simply delicious.
One of the best food I had in Phuket.
Spa at the Malisa Villa Suites opens from 10am till 8pm.
We had plans that night – to watch Simon Cabaret, I heard it was the best cabaret show in Phuket and is performed by Transvestites.
People lining up to collect admission tickets. We pre-book the show and transport through the hotel for 900 baht each person. You can get cheaper rates if you book online at their website www.phuket-simoncabaret.com
Theatre seats inside.
Waiting for the cabaret show to start.
Recording the show is strictly prohibited. So, no pictures of the performances can be posted. The show was entertaining and funny. The stage and costume was elaborate and a feast to my eyes. So yeah, definitely recommended.
Oh, that’s not all. After the show was over, all the stage performers will line up outside if you fancy to take photograph with them.
My beau there wrapping his hands around their waist. They are not really ladies you know!
Hard to believe these pretty ladies were actually men.
Say cheese!
Phuket does have a few cabaret shows but Simon Cabaret has established itself as a market leader of professional entertainment venue since opening in 1991.
Best to book in advance and to include transportation to and fro. Simon Cabaret is not located within walking distance from any nearby town.
Of course, tipping them afterwards goes without saying.
Ain’t they pretty?
The costume they wore varies from ball gown, traditional costumes to bikinis. It satisfy every man’s fantasy, I guess.
The cabaret show runs the entire range of musical theatre from cultures around the world.
The performances takes the audience from China to India and from Egypt to Latin America in a themed display of dance and song.
Come here, have a picture with me.
The performer of one man one woman was not there to be photographed. The portraying of two sexes at the same time was outstanding.
Another performer whom I missed was the Barbie Girl. The performance of the comedian was really funny.
Now it’s time for the stage performers to go back in for another round of performance.
Three performance a day. 6pm, 7.45pm and 9.30pm.
Long Live The King. King Bhumibol Adulyadej is revered by the people of Thailand.
It really was an entertaining night. Highly recommended while in Phuket.
After the show, we had our dinner at Buffalo Steak House.
Happy hour all day and all night.
It was quite late around 9.30pm. So the restaurant was quiet.
Buffalo Steak House. The best steak in Patong, Karon and Kata. It’s the only steak restaurant I went so I cannot verify this claim. But the food was definitely delicious.
My tenderloin steak with potato, yummy.
My hubby had meatballs with mashed potatoes. We were both full and satisfied.
For the second night, we had dinner at Malila restaurant which is located outside our hotel. Malisa Villa Suites and Malila restaurant have the same owner.
A mother trying to coax her son.
I ordered the Tom-Som soup. It was sweet and sour. I didn’t like it very much.
The chicken satay was okay but I preferred the Malaysian version.
Thai style fried fish and again it was sweet. Not to my liking.
Finally something spicy to spice my palate – crab meat curry with eggs and noodles.
It was my last night in Phuket. And I was exhausted after my diving trip in the morning and afternoon.
So I retreated to the hotel after dinner.
Lazing around at the outdoor living room.
While my beau went for a skinny dip in the pool.
Kata is not as happening as Patong but the shops, restaurants and beach is good. I’m definitely going to miss staying at the fabulous suite at Malisa Villa Suites. Will I come back? Definitely yes.
