[MALAYSIA] Kebun-kebun Bangsar - Hidden Gem and Escape Within The City
Whenever I thought of an outing to Bangsar, great cafes and restaurant, shopping and lively nightlife often came to my mind. Little did I know about this family-friendly community garden and farm up till last weekend. It was such a pleasant surprise to discover this hidden gem. It provided a much-needed break and escape from the hustle and bustle of city.
Getting there:
If you are coming from Jalan Maarof, turn left at the first traffic light junction, the mosque and Bangsar Village shopping mall should be on your right after the turn. Turn left again before the next traffic light and the rows of shops. Continue until you reach the roundabout, take the second exit and go uphill. Kebun-kebun Bangsar is on the right side of the road. Photo above is the humble entrance door to Kebun-kebun Bangsar. It is not locked during opening hours (8am - 7pm), except on Mondays.
If this gravel car park at the entrance is full, you can park your car at another car park spot on Lorong Bukit Pantai 4.
The entrance has a bench and a mirror, a nice spot to take a selfie or photo with family. Although entrance is free, you can donate any amount to the donation box at the entrance to support the upkeep of the farm and garden.
Once enter through the main door, there is a shed on the right for visitors to buy some animal feed. It is about RM2 per packet and you can leave your money in the box provided besides the animal feed.
The purple flowers in front of the animal feed shed makes another great photo background. There is also a small fireplace in a snug corner besides the animal feed shed.
Do not feed the tadpoles in the small pond near the entrance.
A turkey was the first animal we spotted. It was busy pecking on a fruit on the ground.
Next, we found some chickens and ducks under bushes and a cow tied to a pole near a seating area under the tree shades.
Animal feeding time! My boys had a great time feeding the chickens, ducks and turkeys in the farm.
There are some white masks which reminds me of fencing masks hanging around the garden. A bit eerie but makes an interesting photo background.
Later, we explore the farm at the back and made a small hike up the hill.
We found some ducks and gooses in the farm. The weather was hot and we decided to leave after that. Kebun-kebun Bangsar is not just a place to visit, the crops here will actually be harvested and donated to the underprivilege in the city. You can also choose to volunteer and give back to the community.
