Cologne, the fourth largest city in Germany, is known for its magnificent Cologne Cathedral and its scenic Rhine River. And yes, cologne is a perfume originating from Cologne, Germany.

Frankfurt, the largest city in the German state of Hesse, is also the financial capital of Germany and has the busiest German airport. Most notably, Frankfurt is home to European Union Central Bank and the German Stock Exchange.

Neuschwanstein Castle is known for its fairy-tale like castle which was used as an inspiration by Walt Disney for the castle of Sleeping Beauty. I did a day trip from Munich to visit the Neuschwanstein Castle and Hohenschwangau Castle in Hohenschwangau in September year 2019.
However, I am sad to say that due to corona virus outbreak, the sights in Hohenschwangau (Neuschwanstein Castle, Hohenschwangau Castle and Museum of the Bavarian Kings) are CLOSED this year until further notice. Bus and carriage operations are therefore also discontinued.

The national railway in Germany is called Deutsche Bahn (DB). Its high speed trains are the best way to travel between major cities all over Germany. It is relatively easy to book the train on your own online as all international credit cards are accepted.

Munich, third largest city in Germany, is famous its beautiful architecture and of course, its annual Oktoberfest beer festival. Even if you're not visiting during the Oktoberfest period (mid September to early October), there's still plenty to see and do in the city.

If you want to fully understand the history of WWII, division and reunification of Germany, you must come to Berlin, capital of Germany. I would recommend to spend at least 2 days to explore the city. However, if you have limited time like me (24 hours or less) to explore the city, fret not, you can still cover a lot of major attractions if you plan it right.
