[TAIWAN] YILAN - Million-Dollar Night View Dinner at Kong Yeh Farm

If there is one place that has taken Instagram by storm in Yilan, it’s Kong Yeh Farm (空ㄟ農場). Perched high above the Jiaoxi township, this isn't your typical "farm" with animals and crops, it’s a hilltop restaurant offering what locals call the "Million-Dollar Night View" of the Lanyang Plain.

Whether you're planning a romantic date or a chill night with friends, here is everything you need to know about visiting this iconic spot.

1) Getting There: Shuttle is provided at the bottom of the hill. You cannot drive your own car or scooter up the mountain. The road is incredibly narrow, steep, and winding, only the farm’s professional shuttle drivers can navigate it safely. If you're driving, navigate to the shuttle boarding point (located at No. 169, Baishijiao Rd). There is a large free parking lot available. The shuttle runs frequently (about every 10–15 minutes). The ride is a bit of a "thrill ride" due to the steep incline, but it only takes about 10 minutes to reach the top.

2) The place is strictly walk-in only. On weekends, be prepared to wait 30–60 minutes for a shuttle during peak sunset hours.

3) They also have a minimum spend policy of NT$300 per adult and NT$150 per child with 10% service charge. Children under 7 are free.

4) Dining time is limited to 90 minutes. 

5) They only accept cash / Taiwan pay / Line pay for payment. 

The magic of Kong Yeh Farm lies in its timing. While the restaurant opens at 3:00 PM, the real show begins as the sun starts to dip. Aim to arrive around 4:30 PM (Winter) or 5:30 PM (Summer). This allows you to catch the daytime view, the sunset, and the night lights all in one 90-minute seating.

We were there around 5.30pm which is the best time to see both the day view and night view of the place. When the light lit up, the restaurant transformed into a whimsical place. 

We got an outdoor table but we eventually needed to move indoor as it began to drizzle in the evening.

Unlike many "view-only" cafes, the food here actually holds its own. They specialize in authentic Italian wood-fired pizzas using a high-end Magliano oven.

We ordered two pizzas, lasagna and their signature mocktails. The pizza crust is thin and bubbly, which my kids liked very much. 

Their drinks are refreshing, and pairs surprisingly well with the food.

As darkness falls, the Lanyang Plain transforms into a glittering carpet of lights. The outdoor area, draped in warm fairy lights, creates an atmosphere that is nothing short of cinematic.

Their bathroom is gender-neutral.

Kong Yeh Farm is one of those rare places that actually lives up to the hype. We had a delightful dinner there. Highly recommended!
