[MALAYSIA] 2D1N Trip to Genting Highlands
Just an hour’s drive from Kuala Lumpur, Genting Highlands remains the go-to getaway from the Klang Valley. Elevated at around 1,800 meters, it offers a refreshing, cool climate and serves as a major entertainment hub featuring theme parks, shopping malls, hotels, and vibrant nightlife.
2D1N itinerary
Here is how to make the most of 48 hours in the clouds.
We left Kuala Lumpur early to beat the jam and theme park crowd. Our first stop before hitting the peak is Gohtong Jaya. This transit town is famous for its hearty local food. We grabbed a table at Kedai Makanan 66 Lok Lok Corner Restaurant for a classic Malaysian brunch to fuel up for the day ahead.
Once we’ve reached the top, we headed straight to Genting SkyWorlds Theme Park.

There are plenty of dining options at Resorts World.
We had dinner at Beauty In The Pot after a day of adrenaline. There is nothing better than enjoying a hot pot in the cold weather. Located in SkyAvenue, Beauty In The Pot offers a nourishing collagen broth that feels like a hug in a bowl.
After dinner, we headed back slightly down the mountain to Resorts World Awana. Surrounded by rainforest, it’s much quieter than the bustling peak, which is perfect for a restful night’s sleep.
Day 2:
In the next morning, we enjoyed a buffet breakfast at Resorts World Awana. Their spread features a great mix of local favorites and continental classics, all enjoyed with a view of the rolling greenery.
Relaxing time at the hotel swimming pool and children's play area. Next, it was time for shopping at Genting Premium Outlets (GPO). Awana provides free shuttle to GPO.
GPO is a haven for bargain hunters. From Nike and Adidas to Coach and Michael Kors, you can find some pretty deep discounts here. It is also connected to the cable car station.
On our way back down towards KL, we made a stop at Pineyard in Janda Baik area. This cafe is stunning, featuring high ceilings and a wooden interior that overlooks a small pond and pine trees. It’s the perfect spot for a "slow living" lunch before reintegrating into the city traffic.
With a trunk full of shopping bags and a stomach full of good food, it’s time to head back home.
